Robert is a lifelong Republican. His devotion to conservative
values began at an early age. At age five, Robert walked with his
parents as they went door to door through Algiers campaigning for
Gerald Ford. In 1988, when he was a Junior at Brother Martin High
School, the Times-Picayune profiled him on account of his working
on the George Bush presidential campaign. In that same year Robert
increased his knowledge of politics by participating in Boys State
at Baton Rouge. Boys State allowed high school students from around
Louisiana to learn the inner workings of the affairs of state by
creating a mock government.
After graduating from Brother Martin in 1989 Robert went to Louisiana
Tech where he was a member of the College Republicans. At Tech he
served in the Student Government Association, first as College of
Engineering Senator, then Cabinet member, and finally Treasurer.
He was also an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity where
at various times he served as Historian, Vice President, Treasurer,
and President.
During his years in Ruston Robert's peers sent him to the Leadershape
conference in Chicago, Illinois. The Leadershape conference taught
Robert how to work within the dynamics of a diverse group. Also,
while at Tech, Robert was appointed to the Judicial Review Board.
This Board consisted of students and faculty members who sat in
review of behavioral cases taking place within the Louisiana Tech
community.
Since his 1994 graduation from Louisiana Tech Robert has worked
in the New Orleans area. He has recently resigned from an engineering
firm and is now working full time for his own computer consulting
business, Computers, Communications, and Controls, LLC. He has also
managed to stay active in local politics. Robert is a member of
the Greater New Orleans Republicans, an Executive Member of the
Greater New Orleans Pachyderm Club, Vice-President of the Orleans
Parish Alliance for Good Government, and is a Fellow of the Institute
of Politics.
